Youth
Sports News focuses on highlighting the involvement of
young players with large photos and professional sports
reporting mentioning many player names. Youth Sports
News strives to recognize as many athletes as possible
for their contribution to their chosen sports and generate
excitement and encouragement.
Mission
Youth Sports News pledges to create a high-quality, professional,
youth sports-oriented newspaper designed to inspire athletic
achievement, foster a passion for teamwork, and provide
positive recognition for youth while creating successful
exposure for our advertising partners.
Background
Youth Sports News will be a free bi-weekly sports newspaper
dedicated to covering youth athletic events in the Las
Vegas Valley. Many of these events have not traditionally
been included in daily newspaper sports sections, and therefore
up to now the young men and women who participate in them
have not received the recognition they deserve for their
achievements. Instead of just covering the “big games,” Youth
Sports News will extend its coverage to as many activities
as possible to provide needed encouragement to all dedicated
young athletes – not just varsity lettermen. Among
the sports planned for coverage in Youth Sports News are:
- Youth Football League
- Nevada NFL
- National Junior Basketball League
- Silver State Girls Soccer
- Junior Varsity and “B” League
High School Sports
- American Youth Soccer Organization
- Little League Baseball
- American Legion Baseball
- Nevada Girls Fast-Pitch Softball League
- Martial Arts
- Gymnastics
- Swimming
- Boxing
- Skateboarding
- BMX Racing
- Mountain Biking
While this list is not all-encompassing,
it provides an idea of the range of sports that Youth Sports
News plans to cover. The Nevada Interscholastic Athletic
Association, the governing body of High School sports in
Nevada, has extended credentials to Youth Sports News as
a member of the working press.
Youth Sports News is designed to be similar in nature
successful community-oriented sports sections which have
become part of many neighborhood newspapers. These special
sections are eagerly awaited every week by parents and
young athletes who enjoy seeing their names and achievements
in print with large photos and professional-quality writing.
Every week clippings from these special sections find their
way into family scrapbooks and are sent to family and friends
around the nation. Youth Sports News will provide this
same spirit of athletic pride for the youth of the Las
Vegas Valley.
