Heading into the last week of his inaugural Mayweather Boxing Club Summer Camp, Floyd Mayweather Jr. couldn’t be happier with the results.
“It was important for me to offer a free boxing camp this summer because I wanted to allow (kids) to be part of a first-of-its-kind summer boxing camp. There’s basketball and football camps out here for kids to go to but not boxing camps,” Mayweather said. “It makes me feel great knowing that I’ve been blessed, and I’m in a position to make a difference and give back. First Two Weeks Set For HS Football
LAS VEGAS – The Nevada Interscholastic
Activities Association has a strong two weeks planned
to kick off the 2004-2005 high school
football season.
Team camps open August 12 for non-contact
and August 16 for contact. The junior varsity season
starts on August 26 with Lincoln County against Las Vegas
at
Las Vegas.
The varsity season kicks off with
seven NIAA Hall of Fame games on Friday, August 27. Pineview
(Utah) will
travel to Las Vegas. Rancho plays at Green Valley.

Sting Power Past Storm With
Second Half Rally
LAS VEGAS SPORTSPARK - An early second
half push made the difference, powering the Bantam Sting
past the Bantam Storm in the first game of the Summer Nevada
Indoor Lacrosse League. The Sting got the game started early,
converting on two goals from Brandon Edgell
and a third goal from Dustin Dresel to

Cheer Nation Receives Five National Bids
Liberty HS – Local cheerleading
team Cheer Nation earned five bids to the USA National
cheerleading competition at a recent regional contest
at Liberty High School. Bids were awarded to two pro
stunt competition teams, the group stunt all-star team,
the youth all-star show cheer novice team and for a second
place finish in the prestigious senior all-star show

Mixed in Got Milk 3v3 Soccer Tournament
SUMMERLIN – Five teams from the host NFC Tabagators
advanced to the finals of the Got Milk 3v3 Soccer Tournament
at Spotted Leaf Park, but only two walked away with berths
to the regional finals. The most dramatic match for the host team was an 8-5 shootout
between the Tabagators 90 Yellow and Tabagators 90 White

Heat FC Advances to Got Milk 3v3 Soccer Regionals
SUMMERLIN – Two U11 local first seeds,
Henderson’s Heat FC and Vegas Boyz, advanced to a final
showdown for a regional berth in the Got Milk 3v3 Soccer
Tournament held at Spotted Leaf Park. Vegas Boyz advanced to the final with a
Sunday morning win over Manchester United while Heat FC knocked

Nevada Little League District 2 Kicks Off
Minors Tournament of Champions
MASLOW PARK – It’s unusual to see two rivals
from the same league meet in the opening game of a Little
League District Minors Tournament of Champions, but the first
game of the series on June 1 pairs the Legacy Little League
Angels (17-2), the winner of their league championship tournament,
against the Legacy Little League Giants (13-3-1) who were
eliminated in the second round of the league tournament by

Five Vegas Schools Advance to USA National
Cheer Championship
Liberty HS – Five Las Vegas area
schools have been awarded bids to the USA National cheerleading
championships taking place in Anaheim, Calif. on March
19 – 21.
In the junior high/middle school show
cheer competitions, K.O. Knudson Middle School finished
first and received a bid in the advanced category, while
Rogich Middle School finished finished first and received
a bid in the novice competition. <more>
