Andrew Mahalik, 18, earned an academic scholarship to the College of Eastern Utah in Price, Utah, following his work on the mound as a pitcher for Shadow Ridge High School. He graduated in June from Northwest Career and Technical Academy.
Mahalik is the son of Betty and Andy Mahalik of Las Vegas. Of her son’s achievement, Betty said, “We are so proud of him because he got there through his own perseverance and dedication. That’s the truth.”
