Strong
First Two Weeks Set For HS Football
LAS VEGAS – The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association has a strong
two weeks planned to kick off the 2004-2005 high school football season.
Team camps open August 12 for non-contact and August 16 for contact. The junior
varsity season starts on August 26 with Lincoln County against Las Vegas at
Las Vegas.
The varsity season kicks off with seven
NIAA Hall of Fame games on Friday, August 27. Pineview
(Utah) will travel to Las Vegas. Rancho plays at Green
Valley. Eldorado
battles at Foothill. Western kicks off its season at Desert Pines. The new
Del Sol High School will battle at Coronado. Liberty will try to avenge its
no-win
season at Bonanza. Chaparral rounds out the games at Sierra Vista. All game
times are 7 p.m.
The games on September 2 (b-league and
junior varsity) and September 3 (varsity) are going to
feature some of the best non-league match-ups of the season.
Three of the games not to miss will be Basic at Palo Verde, Coronado at
Centennial
and the best kick-off game of all, the Las Vegas Wildcats against the Bishop
Gorman Gaels. All games again start at 7 p.m.
Both Las Vegas and Bishop Gorman are
perennial contenders for their region crowns, and having
the two face off in the second week of action should
launch some real
excitement for the 2004-2005 football season. <more stories>
