Little League District 2 Kicks Off Minors Tournament
of Champions
MASLOW PARK – It’s unusual to see two rivals
from the same league meet in the opening game of a Little
League District Minors Tournament of Champions, but the
first game of the series on June 1 pairs the Legacy Little
League Angels (17-2), the winner of their league championship
tournament, against the Legacy Little League Giants (13-3-1)
who were eliminated in the second round of the league tournament
by the Mets (7-11)

The Angels got a first round bye in the Legacy Little
League championships, and then took the crown with a win
over the Indians, Astros and Cubs.

of the Rangers winds up for the pitch. Findlay shut down
the
Mets for a 4-2 victory in the district minors championship.
“It was a great win for the kids,” said Angels
manager Jeff Kaufman. “There was an enthusiastic
crowd cheering on both teams and fans came out with signs
and everything. It was truly a great night. We take our
hats off to the Cubs whose kids gave it their all and played
a great game as well.”

with tough pitching.
The game puts the #1 and #2 Legacy teams together with
only one advancing to the second round. While it may seem
like a disadvantage for the league, it should be the most
exciting rivalry game of the first round.
“I’m looking forward to the two teams meeting
again,” said Giants fan Rob Replet. “These
two battled during the regular season and the tournament
game should even be more exciting.”
